Granada, by Agustín Lara

This week's #artsongfix takes us on a trip... to Spain!

This song was written in 1932 by Mexican composer Agustín Lara, and has been translated into multiple languages and musical styles ever since. The text speaks of the Spanish city Granada, where bull fights stain the ground with blood, the music enchants, and passionate lovers meet one another's eyes.
This song has pleased audiences in both classical and popular music for generations, and we know that ensemble tenor Ace Gangoso and pianist Kuang-Hao Huang are sure to enchant you in this recording from March 2, 2020 at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago's Buchanan Chapel.
