​Dana Brown is the Chair of the Music Faculty and an Associate Professor of Opera and Vocal Coaching at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. As a pianist, he has been heard many times on 98.7 WFMT Radio as a collaborator, in addition to performances on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight, at the Ravinia Festival, Light Opera Works of Evanston, the Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago Opera Theater, the Chicago Humanities Festival, the Tanglewood Festival and at the Supreme Court building in Washington, DC. He is the co-artistic director of the UpNorh Vocal Institute, a program for emerging singers which emphasizes a mind-body-voice approach. He was the coach for the 2008-2011 seasons of the Civic Music Association’s Support Our Singers Program, an outgrowth of the Wisconsin Met auditions. He is also a staff pianist for the Ryan Opera Center at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. At Lyric, he has played the lessons and masterclasses of Marilyn Horne, Renata Scotto, Renée Fleming and Sir Andrew Davis.
He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he studied with renowned accompanist Martin Katz.
